Ok my site is growing a little(I have to get more people to link to me) but I have a question.
How is bandwidth used up?
Is transfer the same as bandwidth?
Does downloading something off my site take away from the bandwidth if thats how its used up?
Thanks

bandwidth, is used when something loads up from ur site, this could be as simple as text being displayed, or pictures. Just about everything. If you have a picture thats is 100k then every time a visitor goes onto your site and looks at that picture u use up 100k. Yes downloading does take bandwidth

the terms bandwidth and transfer are used interchangably. Basicly, any time data is transmitted between the host server and a client it counts against bandwidth. This includes all text/pictures on your site, user uploaded files, and even FTP transfers to and from your site.

It usually updates every 24 hours, so you may download a 10MB file 10 times and keep looking to see your bandwidth changes but it will not show until 24 hours later or when the server updates

Guys,

You missed a big question:

"Like if my images are hosted on a image host will they take bandwidth from my site?
Thanks"

The answer to that is no. Your bandwidth will not be hit for the image size. It will obvioulsy take a small hit for the visitor, but if the image is 100k and is hosted on a different host, you will not be charged for the bandwidth.

Hosting images on a different server does affect site load speed if you have plenty of images, so please bear that in mind.

Steve.

Nope because they are not being pulled from your host but another source. The image host should be the one where you see the most transfer not the host that only houses the html.

Hope this helps
