Hi everyone,

I have a question for the "experienced ones". I m thinking of registering a domain for a website that I have been working on for quite some time. Its nothing professional, I just want to share my thoughts through my site, something like a book.

Authors often use an artistic name for their books and thats exactly what I was planing to do. The thing is that the real name is displayed if I register a domain (everyone can see though a "who is"). I would have no problem to register with my real name, I just would like that my artistic one is displayed for the public.

Has anyone ever had this problem or heard of similar situations? I d really be thankful for any advice on that. Wouldnt we consider it a right of the artistic/author to wish to keep his real identity hidden from the public (and not from the company that registers the domain) ?

To legally register a domain name, you need to provide your real details upon registration
If you wish NOT TO show your personal details, you can register a domain with NameCheap.com and they offer a whois guard service for free which enables you to keep your personal details secret

Hope this helps

GoDaddy also offers a private registration. I believe there is a fee associated though...
