To answer your question, it all depends on your server. If the server your corporate website is currently is accessible to the outside word and has a good connection to the internet (T3 or greater), then no, you don't need a host.

You may still want to use a web host anyway, because they will maintain the server your site is on in regards to security and stability. Any may do daily backups as well. You could still use your own server as a development and testing environment.

Then you'll probably need a host unless you have a webserver already setup and someone who knows what they are doing is administrating it for you.

The above statement is a VERY good reason to let a reputable hosting company (there are plenty of these) host your site. There are numerous amounts of hi-tech hoodlums out there who love to hack websites and delete all your content. Just recently I visited a web directory that someone had apparently hacked, deleted ALL the directory, and left some childish graffiti in its place. I can't even IMAGINE how the owner of that site must feel.
