To answer your question, it all depends on your server. If the server your corporate website is currently is accessible to the outside word and has a good connection to the internet (T3 or greater), then no, you don't need a host.
You may still want to use a web host anyway, because they will maintain the server your site is on in regards to security and stability. Any may do daily backups as well. You could still use your own server as a development and testing environment.
