If you want cheap, reliable hosting, check out
DarkenHosting.com.
£12 a year buys this:
# 12 Gb of webspace
# 17 Gb bandwidth
# FREE domain name
# Cpanel
# Unlimited webmail
# Unlimited Subdomains
# PHP support
# MySQL
# Message Boards
# PRE written Cgi Scripts
As you'd expect for that price, yes, it is shared hosting. Probably with a few thousand people, but pages load just as fast as any other site, and downloads are reasonably fast, too.
Oh, and the customer support is speedy but about as professional as a fish on a stick. When inquiring about my domain transfer, and why nominet were being so slow, the response was "nominet suck ***". Despite this, the person in charge is very friendly and extremely fast - if you don't care about professional support, they're a must.
Not only do you get all the above at the top, but unlike others for this price, it's an honest company with very, very little server downtime. And no ads at all.
To be perfectly honest, I can't see how the **** they make a profit. I mean, £12 for a year
including the domain? That's a bloody good price. Anybody got any ideas?
My advice is, if you don't believe me, set up an account and see for yourself!
