Is there something wrong with your ID? These companies ask for ID's for a reason. If you have a valid ID it should not be a problem to send it to them.

How come, you have to send your passport photo to some providers as well

Its a way bigger companies protect themselves from both dealing with kids (whom are less likely to fax in their i.d.) and frauds.
