Hi, I just spoke with my web hosting company startlogic, they offer a free domain renewal and then the representative said they mange the domin and work with https://manage.opensrs.net/ and http://www.tucows.com/.

Before I transfer my domain from register.com that Charges me for a renews I wanted to ask you guys if it counts right all those middle-man, is it safe am I still in control of my domain ?

Grace I think it's best to always stay in control of your own domain. I have heard many horror stories about Customers trying to get their domain name back from web hosts. I am not saying that Startlogic would do this but for a 8 or 9 bucks a year is it worth risking it? If there is a Control Panel that you can access without having to contact the hosting company you would probably be okay. I would never recommend you choose a Web host simply on them giving a free domain though.

If you let the hosting company manage it for you. Make certain that your name and email is set and the administrative contact for the domain. This way you will be able to gain control of the domain at any time if need be.

Thanks guys. In register.com, the service I'm using, its actually more then a few $ its
35 for one year and 109.95 for five years but, it definitely worth it if you think thee may be issues with others.

Anyone have experience with startlogic or register.com ?

If you want to save some bucks and have total control on your domain name i suggest you transfer from register.com to godaddy.com who are very cheap and a very good domain registrar.
