There are plenty of hosts that will offer you 2Gb of storage for under $4/month. The trouble is finding a reliable host for that price. As you've seen with rumela.net, a host cannot survive long with no profit.

I suggest you either decrease your requirements or increase your budget.

I think a reliable host would cost just a bit more than $4. Have you tried Ipage or Ipower. I think one might manage there for $6. They have a good affiliate program as well that you can join for free and possibly recover some of the money you spend for hosting.

you're definately going to have to increase your budget. I would be scared to host with a company for less than $4.00 a month. Running a quality hosting company is pricey and like Anacrusis said, hosts definately can not survive with no profits.

You know I have tried and tried to figure out how a host can do this kind of market but I have never figured it out?

Ok I have seen over and over a host offering 200 GB of bandwidth a month for oh lets say $5 a month ..... now most of the time I check to see where that host server is located at.

Its rather simple to do this just take the host name and go to this web site DNS stuff and enter the domain name in the DNS lookup search.

Now over and over I see the hoster is paying $150 to $250 a month for a dedicated server with around 1000 to 2000 GB of bandwidth a month.

So lets do the math.

$5 a month for 200 GB lets say they get 2000 GB a month with the server this allows 10 clients to be hosted on any given server. that comes up to $50 a month but the hoster is paying $150 at least?? makes ya wanna go ....... hhhhmmmmmm dont ya think?

I know I know most hosting companies know that not every client will use 200 GB on any given site but there is always that what if in the back of my mind.

So my suggestion is becareful of what you sign up for ... more then likely you will someday regret going with that host that is offering you more then what they think you can use.

Just my 2 cents worth.

Most of these "hosts" probably arn't paying for the server themselves. They most likely have a $15 reseller account with another host that is over selling.

Too many people are looking more for deals over actual service. yet a lot of people will blame the host they purchased their awesome package from if anything goes wrong.

If I were you, I would look for service and pay for the space and bandwidth you really are using and require.

Hosts offering unlimited bandwidth or high bandwidth plans for $5 and $10 are capitalizing on the fact that 90% of their users will not use even the 1% of the alloted bandwidth. And this is the fact that 90% of the websites on the world wide web utilizes less than 500MB of bandwidth per month.

All conditions remaining same, I would go for a host who is offering more utility features like marketing materials, Free PPC ads, Free Scripts library, free SEO etc.

The problem is not the bandwith
the problem is the space.
I will not give you more than 300MB Space
for that account.

A while back I found this site http://www.realmetrics.com. They publish information about hosts like speed, uptime, and support etc... I don't know how accurate their information is, but it might help you out some.
