Here are some free hosts I have used:

http://www.f2o.org - expensive to go to domain hosting but allow 3Gb transfer plus PHP and MySQL

http://www.portland.co.uk - are ok, but can be slow

http://www.web1000.com - can be alright, but don't have PHP
