One domain name I had taken expired. I wanted to transfer it to another registrar but they said I should have done so 15 days before the domain expired? I do not want to take the same domain name from the same registrar and want to switch to the other one? Is it possible(the domain is on hold).
Is it possible to take the domain name from someone else and the web space from someone else and match them up together ? (before, I had taken it from the same provider)
Where can I find cheap domains and space? Before I had taken it for around us$8 and 20 mb webspace for around us$12/yr. I don't want to continue withe the same host but want some sevice as cheap as that.

I wouldn't rely on using hosting directories as many are biased, run by web hosts, or have rankings based on the amount of money a web host contributes.

Hosting directories with advanced search features can still be of help in choosing a host that fits the needs "on paper". After that, proper research on each host is absolutely necessary.

AFAIK that is not possible. You need to re-register the domain (it might cost a lot while it is on hold) and then you can transfer it out. You can of course wait for it to be available again and register it then. Be careful though, as some other people might have their eyes on your domain and once it is available for registering, they might register it before you get a chance to. There are services that can help you register a domain as soon as it is available, but even so there can be no guarantees.

Yes, this is possible. All you would need to do is change the domain's nameservers as instructed by your host.

You can register your domain name with the same registrar. Choose a web hosting provider as per your requirement. The web hosting provider will provide you with nameservers. You can then login into your domain administration and change the nameservers as provided by the web host.

I found one web host who fits all my requirements. I also sent a test email asking assistance and it was answered well in less than 24 hrs. I think I will be taking webspace from this host.
