I just found this kick butt hosting company that offers domain registration for only $5.99. They have a lot of really inexpensive hosting plans also. They have two full page ads in this months PC magazine, so they look legit.
Really worth checking them out!

1and1 is a huge hosting company and widely known in the industry. That doens't say anything about their service though...

I can only add that they are UK company that offers hosting service in continental Europe as well. It's one of those providers who can afford to launch any promotion on web hosting and domains.

I have a domain name with them and believe me that is more than enough. I find smaller hosters are best to speak to but ones who will survive as they make money elsewhere such as QIQ. God I love them.
