well i dont know mate 1&1 to me are poo and i will be changing my host at the end of this month

cos of database problems they just seem to not care first i wanted more databases but that was it they said i would have to upgrade to the next package so i did, now they have done a update and made my package that had 5 databases to have 8 so i asked them when would i get my extra 3 databases, they replyed

"sorry but we can not just give you the extra 3 databases to your package what i would do is cancle you hosting package and sign up again with the same package as a egsisting customer this way you will get the extra 3 databases"

what does that tell you they dont care thats what that tells me, ok its no big deal to some but what can you really do with a 100mb database that you host 3 and going to host more websites from also they cant even add more mb to you database well thats know good

i would say get a diferent host 1&1 are poo and there going to go down the pan if they carry on doing daft deals also there are alot cheaper hosts out they that offer more as well

im just a designer for a guy at my church, but my employer and I personaly know the person with the site and he has said yes to a switch. I use lunarpages for my personal stuff

good for him.. I didnt have many problems with one and one just the major one... support... dont even go there. Takes them a week to reply to your emails and if you phone the support center ull be put on hold for 20 mins before u got thru to someone in india then they would listen to you for 2 mins and then put u on hold again for another 20 mins... this honestly happend to me! What a discrace and also the support person put me on hold to check my web page... now let me see.. it DOES NOT take 20 mins to open your browser and type in a url and press enter now does it?!?!

happens to me every time i've needed support. i've probably been on the phone with them around 20-30 times. about 4-5 months ago, my server would be down at least once every few weeks, and i'd have to be on the phone with them every time. rediculous cust sup.

just wish i didn't have 22 domains, 15 of them full websites, and around 10 databases to transfer, or i would have been out of there a long time ago

well i was thinking of changing hosting acounts but i have just ranked high for my search terms and i have been told changing hosting accounts will mess my ranking up and i will drop in all the SE's

dont know if that is true or not but i don't want to risk it

not true IIRC

Changing your hosting shouldn't affect your rankings in the search engnes at all.

really even if the ip changes for the domain names

No the domain name would be transferd to the new host as well

so the only think that would change really is the ip of the domain

The search engines are interested in your domain name not where the site is hosted. Your content will still be the same and all the links out there will still be pointing to the same site.

Unless someone knows something I don't. Maybe if your site was with a host that the search engines had flagged for some reason or another and even then I'm not sure it would affect your site, just theirs.

The search engines refer to your site by domain name not ip address so i can't see why it would make a difference to them.

Just make sure the move goes without significant downtime and you should be fine.
