But running your own teaches you something that being hosted or having a dedicated server can never do. How to fix things if it goes wrong and what to look for in a server when looking for a host.
I know now that I can handle a server that is not run by a host but is mine to run, set up and scripts and everything. Not many poeople out there can say that. I know how to find the error logs, how to fix things when it goes wrong short of hardware failure IN a datacenter, Hardware failure in my home I could fix, ISP failure was beyond MY control,
Granted, it's not for everyone but why be a naysayer if someone truly wants to give it a whirl? That's what I got when I first started, lots of negative feedback but I went ahead anyway. I've been online with my own server about 8 months now with very few problems.
What if you had asked about becoming a reseller and all you heard was *no, too hard, don't do it, let the big guys do it*.
We all need encouragement. Liz
