I use paid yeah. I think the features and service are really worth it. If you look around you can find some great ones. Plus the free hosts I used before I "saw the light" didnt offer reliable MySQL servers. My current host gives me unlimitied databases and they're fast. I never found a fast MySQL host who was free. Thats my 2 cents. Hope this helps.

Yup. Definitely pay (until, eventually, I can afford the internet speed/bandwidth and hardware to host my own). I use Web Pros, Inc.

Almost $50/mo, but up to 15 domains, 75 subdomains, and lots of space and bandwidth. I've been with them for about 4 or 5 years now...and at least their tech support has a sense of humor.

Anyway...until I was forced to leave them, I used PowWeb. Great hosting, great price. Wish I didn't have to leave. I left because our webmaster/site funder left and I dont have the money.

there's too much limitations with free hosts: forced pop ups, redirection, and you can't install scripts
