It's been 40 hours since I bought my domain from Yahoo Small Business and about 36 hours since I changed my name servers. A whois on my domain reveals the following:
1) It shows the name servers to be the new ones I set it to (Dreamhost).
2) It still shows the .COM TLD of my domain as inactive but it does show my registation details.
Will this problem sort itself out, or do I have to make more changes. Please keep in mind that my domain is from Yahoo SmallBusiness.
No, I have changed the name servers, and a whois on my domain confirms that, but it still does'nt send me to my website, instead showing the under construction page. I want to know if there are addition DNS changes I have to make ?
Finally, it may be migrating now since I managed to get a page after a really long time, but pings are still going all over. Hopefully it'll sort itself out in a few hours.
I find that hard to swallow because my other website hosted on the same server is working perfectly fine. Let's see, because I'm going to sleep for the next 6 hours ;-)
I personally took advantage of the 2.99$ domain offer at Yahoo! and bought a domain for my own, i had absolutely no problem in changing name servers. You should check dreamhost's server.

OK, the host IP now shows Dreamhost. Now I'm convinced. Better get ready for a fight with them. Could anyone please help me get a more specific description for my problem ?
Just submit a support ticket and get DreamHost to look into your issue. If they provide decent enough support, they will resolve it without you going in to fix things yourself.
As far as nameserver changes is concerned, just the change in namservers should pretty much settle everything for you though propagation to the new nameservers may take up to 72hrs.
So, a simple name server change did the job for you ? You didn't have to make any other DNS changes ?
Of course i had to make DNS changes on MY server so the domain would work. I had to add the domain zone to named and point it to the proper ip and mx server, that is why i advised you to ask dreamhost about it.

I registered a domain through Yahoo and had them register nameservers for my domain. It took them 8 DAYS to get it done, and did it wrong 3 times!
Yahoo has no idea what to do with domain names. I suggest anyone looking for a domain name, spend the extra couple of dollars and get ti through Godaddy!
