ONE YEAR OF NIGHTMARE went almost to a end as 2 accounts kept on moving!
Twice all my files lost and twice for months the domain was gone!
Chitie (****ie) as I started to call them left their business to hostgroup1.com.
Chitie made a downtime word to mention in the world book of records!
No support and no way to even reach them. They moved server from Panama to Venezuela all around the globe!
Suddenly hostgroup1.com took over all accounts and their uptime as excellent! But a few weeks ago all clients got mail that also they will stop their hosting service!

2 accounts and domains registered with them so no problem, took the loss, and as they advised me is to send them a email with the DNS of my wish!
As you can see bellow they will stop but not without taking 20 dollars from all clients from who they already stole months of their right of hosting!

Thank you for contacting us regarding your domain name ****.com. There are
a few steps that need to be done to transfer your domain name to a new
domain registrar. Otherwise your domain name will not be working after we
shut down operations. You can find these steps at
http://www.hostgroup1.com/transfer.htm. There are still some steps you need
to accomplish:

Pay the transfer cost of $20 incurred in the domain transfer. You can
find the payment link here: http://www.hostgroup1.com/transfer.htm.
________ ______________ ________________ ________ _________

What to do now? I paid for 2 years domain and hosting to pay them again? And will they do this time what they have promissed?
Or they just want the 20$ for a farewell present?

The end of the bad dream has not ended!
Chris a friend of mine is the owner of the domain as he paid for it! We wrote down my name as we paid it with his Credit Card, there was an extra option, but his name remaned as owner!
This has been freeola.info & getdotted.com.
Dear member PLEASE what can we do? After 23 mail to them today the first time the have send an answer! Here down is the comment of Chris:

I got a reply, telling me to fill out the form- no personal question answered.

This company is like out of the Stone Ages or something. They expect someone to pay just to transfer the name? And to fax or post the stupid form? Do they want me to write it on a typewriter first or something?

Why not just let the name expire and buy it immediately on Maddogdomains? I am not sure why you didnt do that in the first place. Are you expecting me to again use my credit (debit) card to do this? I dont have the funds to do this, my man.

Best,

Chris

PLEASE help any one with an advise!
Thanks! Peter

Just wondering...how is a trip from Panama to Venezuela "all around the globe" when the two countries are next to each other?

I'm sorry to hear of your bad experience, and I hope everything is sorted out soon. I see a thread on Chitie.com on the main page of this forum -- I'll see what that thread has to say.

Well around the Globe means that besides the countries mentioned, they also moved to Indonesia, India and such.
They were the worst I have ever experienced!
But it might be better for the board to make some more space for experiences about hosting servers. As there are too many rip-offs around.

While the above hostgroup1 is asking a 20$ to transfer a domain, you can get domains just under 10$, the other like freeola GetDotted in the UK is asking 20 BP and you to send a fax to change DNS!
Nice that you have mentioned after more than a week after posting my message that moving from Venezuela to Panama is not around the Globe
But a real question about it I did not get!

I would really like to see more experts’ advice about these problems that not only I am having but so many.
Question is there a law about registrars; and can they ask 20 British Pounds with a fax from their client just for a DNS change? Freeola & GetDotted
This message I got from them after I have send them for over 3 weeks email messages!

A little more about me and my problem:
As I am a war reporter for over 18 years now we made a website between all kinds of friend journalist, so we can exchange news and visions. This website is offline now for over 2 weeks as the hosting company stopped also their service and made a server move, this with no charges at all. But I can’t send Freeola & GetDotted a fax with my credit card details from here! Lots of phone lines from journalist in this jungle banana republic country were I am are getting tapped, so sending a fax with my CC details is not really a good idea!

Is their any way to go around this problem? Or do I have to wait 2 more years until the domain comes to a end and to switch over to another registrar?

there are many uk companies who request fax authorisation for dns changes and whois changes

its so annoying - never go with a uk company unless you really have to!!!

Yep I know now
I did not do it but a friend of mine whi used to be a real newbie
But its ok we would like to send them a fax but with CC details?
And to pay for a dns change: GBP20.00 = 31.60 dollars!!!

This is a REAL RIP-OFF!

Sorry to hear about your troubles, it is really bad when a hosting company stops.
I know from my own experiences, and the one I was with wanted £94 to change the DNS, I told them where they could stick it!

Right on!
But there should be some kind of law about the changing of the DNS, if you pay all-ready so why to pay extra for a 5 minutes handling?
