Is my host or cPanel responsible for my problems using cPanel?

I often have problems using cPanelX on my websites as there is a lenghty delay on many tasks, sometimes from just getting into the control panel and most of the time when copying or moving or deleting more than a few files.

Often I can perform a task quickly several times, such as copying, moving or deleting files but after maybe half a dozen to a dozen times on the same task it will take ages to complete the next task, if it completes it at all. If I close down the browser and re-open it the problem is usually cured until I get into the same position after another half dozen to dozen tasks.

Is this a problem with cPanelX or is it something to do with my host, like overselling?

Thanks

Perhaps you should graduate to using ftp rather than manually uploading files. That way you can leave the session and come back to it at your convenience. It sounds as though either your connection or server are slow; but it could be a mix of both. If it is the latter and your server is slow, then that's your hosts fault and little can be done aside from switching. If you are having actual problems (aside from speed) with CPanel, then your host may help you if they clearly state that they provide free support, otherwise you may have to pay them...or look elsewhere entirely. Probably not the answer you were hoping for....

Either your ISp is having issues or the server load where you are hosted is high, This will cause the page to load slow. Try doing a www.whois.sc on your domain name and this will give you a general idea of how many websites are on the server. Also you can ping the server here.

cPanel is known for being a bit slow in the control panel responsiveness category. It would be really slow is your server resources are oversold. It's probably both in your case, I've had this happen before to me.

As tanda stated, cPanel tends to be a resource hog. And if your host has a lot of customers on the server using cPanel all at once, it can add insult to injury.

The file manager in cPanel is OK for doing simple things, but you really should be logging in via an FTP client if you plan to do anything significant. This would solve your problem of slow response times. If you are still slow or unresponsive using FTP, then I would say your hosts server may be overloaded.

You stated that closing and reopening your browser solves the issue for a short time, this leads me to believe that the problem is within the cPanel file manager and the fact that it's not very robust.
