Hello everyone.
I am new to this forum and only just found it by searching for VDeck Forums. I'm afraid I'm a bit late for Jeremiah, but I wanted to post anyway just to save grief to any one else trying to decide between VDeck and Cpanel.
I have had one hosting nightmare after the other starting with Yahoo. I left Yahoo and went to Hostgator. I understand HTML code, and if someone held a gun to my head I could probably build a simple page in code. However, I have a 100 page content site, and coding is out of the question. But I do need to insert code here and there when adding items to my site. When I went to Hostgator, I had problems with the Cpanel loading (it was taking 20 minutes), probably because I am forced to use dial up. I then switched to StartLogic.
StartLogic got great reviews for support, but I haven't seen any of it. I have been trying to get my site on the net since Wednesday, and it just isn't working. I even tried using the edit feature on the pages which was completely useless. I would see my raw page (source code) flash for a split second, and then nothing. I'm staring at a blank page. How can you edit what you can't see?
Another problem is that when I first go into the file manager, the public_html folder appears empty. I began using the back arrow in the browser and again clicking on the folder (a total of 5 times) before I finally saw my pages listed in the folder. This happens everytime I go into VDeck.
To make matters worse, when you submit a ticket, they send you a confirmation email with a password to use on a link that they give you so that you can check the status of your ticket. It doesn't work.
I just went to the VDeck forum where it seems there are a lot of unhappy customers, and couldn't login there either!!
After viewing all the grief in their forum, I have decided to cancel my hosting account with them. I am going back to Hostgator (where I have always had great support in spite of the load problem). I have just tried out the cpanel on their site again and this time it loaded in less than a minute. They have even more great features than they had previously.
At least on the edit page I can paste the entire source code into the page if I have to without any problems. I found Cpanel much easier to use.
My advice is to stick with Cpanel and FORGET Vdeck!!!!!!
