Okay. I need some help here. I like web design and stuff that goes along with it. I would say that my skill level in web design are moderate and with computers hardware/software advanced. networking moderate.
What I want to do is setup a windows 2003 server box and put plesk on it as the control panel. (I'd use linux and cpanel but cpanel costs way to much) I upgrade my internet connection to a business package (6MBits/1.5MBits). What I am planning to do with this box is host a few free basic clans websites and stats hosting for games. I see all these other places doing the free hosting for clans but they are mostly all branded or have banners. I don't like that and I'm sure others don't either. Basically I'm doing this as a test run to see how well it will work out and to see if I should get another server just for this. But servers aren't cheap so this is the cheapest way to test it out. Plus I like to learn new things.
What my question is. I want to have the box be a DNS server/Web server but don't really know what dns server i should use. msdns or bind dns. And don't know if it will be compatible being the dns server and running plesk on the same machine.
This is a first for me. All my other servers are dedicated boxes (a bunch of game server boxes and a couple http boxes) through other people so I never had to mess with this DNS stuff or setup the control panel. If anyone can point me in the right direction please do so.
If I'm not clear enough let me know and I'll revise that mess up there.
