Ive been asked to build a site for a local gay pub.
Ive had some experince in web building before not much mind only some basic stuff, but they really like what I have produced and ideas etc.
we have an idea for a name and it hasn't been registered yet.
Problem is being a novice Im used to using programs such as webuilder 2 WYSIWYG platforms then publishing it in HTML then jsut simply uploading it all but I was using bravenet but then its annoying with all the advertising.
We dont need to much space but somewhere we can advertise nights and have a gallery for the pics but I have considered using Fotiki.com for the pics though cause it is so easy to use and its unlimited but depends on how perfect they want the site.
Money isnt to much of an issue but I have been sugested www.qiq.co.uk or www. gnhosting.co.uk are they any good???
Just after some hosting palce that is easy to work with simple and good customer support, that I can intergrate things like guest books, forums, mail etc etc....or cause I know how to use bravehost buy a name and use them? Im a bit confused any ehlp would ber realy really appreciated

Never heard of them but if you want good professional support have a look at www.clook.net - they are UK based.

Personally speaking I would never use 1&1, Yahoo, Pipex/Webfusion.

Many hosts today offer an online website builder that might help you with some of the simpler things like a guestbook. Look for a host that offers Fantastico or something similar for some of the bigger applications such as forums. Fantastico will allow you to install and setup these applications very quickly and easy and with very little knowledge.

Another option is to look at using a Content Management System (CMS) such as Joomla (www.joomla.org), with this you can setup an entire site and maintain it very easily. Complete with forums, guestbooks, mail forms event calendars etc.

thanks for the advice what about streamline? are the any good? I would like to just get a good hosting site that is really easy to work with i can do forums etc and galleries however I coul use extrenal sites for them and just have a link to them such as the gallery at fotiki etc

I'm a noob to this webhosting and site building. I am probably going to sign up with Streamline tomorrow. I asked a fellow forum member if they were any good any they confirmed they are. if you have any doubts sign up for their free 3 mointh trial to get to grips with it before committing for a year.

The problem I have is I'm a poor mature student. I need some ASP hosting and probably can afford £40 for an anniversary account, but can go up to say £5 or 6£ a month for a monthly one. Any suggestions for a noob friendly experience?
