I run my own Web host (another venture altogether), and used to compete directly with GoDaddy.com. Now we are providing pretty expensive hosting, so we're not in the same league at all anymore.
Here's the scoop on GoDaddy - I just joined a startup as WebMaster (yes, I have alot on my plate!), and picked GoDaddy for the hosting. It was the first time I've used their hosting service (have always registered a good majority of my domains there), and I can say I am impressed. You have to dig through a few menus to set it up after you order the plan, and I would not rate the control panel as number 1, but I have honestly been impressed. Load times are very fast, there has been no server downtime, and there have not been any dumb technical errors with the servers (as there used to be with the company I first partnered with to offer my hosting services).
So I can recommend GoDaddy as a great choice for Web hosting. junkfile.com, you may wish to look at one of GoDaddy's more expensive hosting plans - they offer plans that give you much more than 5 GB of space for less than $20 per month.
