No such animal, dude.

The hosts that offer "unlimited" bandwidth are usually crappy and tend to offer subpar service.

Bandwidth has a physical limitation (the size of the bandwidth pipe) and excessive bandwidth to a server has a tendency to crash it.

So stay away from unlimited bandwidth hosts.

Unlimited bandwidth does not exist. Go through the TOS of hosts offering unlimited bandwidth and you will find some restrictions. Unmetered dedicated servers do exist and aren't deceptive advertising to a client.

Like what others have said, no such thing. It's just a marketing trick. Imagine bandwidth as "number of lanes on highway". There can't be unlimited lanes.

bandwidth costs money, allot of it (google teir 1 bandwidth), there is no way you can get unlimited for 2.20/month. even paid hosts (shared) play this game, there is no real way they can give you what they say for under 10/month so they have it in their TOS that you cant use too much. the ones that dont cost 20+/month. frankly the paid ones are fine as they are nicer to you, by the time you use too much for that server it will run so low it wont work.

had the same problem myself on unlimited badwidth and as soon as i put up a couple of video clips my website was disabled.

Web hosting accounts are prohibited from hosting file distribution websites (including but not limited to music, video and software), adult content orientated websites, hosting banners, graphics or cgi scripts for other websites, storing pages, files or data as a repository for other websites or personal computers, giving away web space under a domain, sub domain or directory

Think that covers just about every thing.

Unlimited : no limit
Unmetered : not measured or counted but has a certain limit

Unlimited bandwidth does not exist bcoz bandwidth is a commodity that someone needs to pay for eventually. The term unlimited is only a marketing strategy and the companies offering unlimited bandwidth does not last for a long time in the market. Go through the TOS of such companies you will find some restrictions after all nothing in the world is unlimited.

make sure to read the AUP/TOS to get an idea of how their unlimited
bandwith plan works. Webmasters everywhere usually have had troubles with

Like many of the ones before me echoed, unlimited servers don't exist. There's only unmetered servers which are more expensive than the usual servers that are capped in terms of bandwidth usage.

As a business logic, it is impossible to offer unlimited bandwidth as it costs money. But you find many hosts who offer unlimited bandwidth in their plans. This people are capitalizing on the fact that 90% of the sites on the world wide web use less than 1 GB of data transfer per month. unlimited is a marketing gimmick which attracts attention of a prospective customer.

Usually we are rather critical to put down any unlimited bandwidth claims or questions as it is a misconception to many potential clients.

they say unlimited because (in their view) it is impossible to consume that kind of bw. but, in their view, they can say everything.. maybe they find 1gb superbly high

Basically what these companies that offer it assume that their clients wont use it all up and are n00bs for going with them, which is why they wont use it up (cuz they are newbs and dont know good website stuff)

they assume this but when it actually does happen that someone uses a lot of bandwidth they disable the account.
