Hi all,

I'm experiencing something very odd with one of my sites. I host several sites, one of which is almost identical in how it has been set up (scripts, pages, graphics etc etc).

Site 1: (everything is normal here)
A lot more popular than Site 2, been around longer and causes the following stats in AWStats:
- Total bandwidth used: 5.80 GB
- Traffic not viewed: 806.97 MB

Site 2: (the one that is odd)
The least popular of the 2, in existence a year shorter and causes the following stats in AWStats:
- Total bandwidth used: 564.82
- Traffic not viewed: 1.31 GB

I've checked my other sites and each and every one of them is in line with Site 1. Only site 2 has this behaviour. My webhoster is being vague, saying that it has to do with Zombie-scans, robots etc etc. I only just realised this problem existed about 3 weeks ago but it is clear that this has been happening from the start which makes it even less likely that it is caused by bots.

I've already enabled hotlink protection but that didn't help.

Anyone any idea? What are your thoughts?

Resolved. My poor host, I must have spammed them crazy with this and they finally got back to me with an answer, one that I could have found myself. Google is going totally nuts on that domain.

Google's doing a lot of deep crawling that way lately, or so it would appear. High bandwidth totals are often (BUT NOT ALWAYS before anyone craps down my throat) a sign that your site's spider-friendly and ready for prime time with big G.

And along with the big G comes more traffic that's going to be viewed so take that as good Return Of Investment.
