I have a single site up running. Now I have registered another domain name and I want to use the same hosting account. This should be possible, right?

What is the best way to make these two sites look like just that - two different sites?

So far i've got these alternatives:

Domain aliasing - is it only possible to redirect the new domain to the same site as the old domain is pointing to? What about pointing it to www.oldname.com/newname?

Domain forwarding - Only redirecting to www.oldname.com/newname?

Domain forwarding with masking - some kind of frameset thing?

Please help me out here guys.

Do you have cPanel?

Who is your host?

Are addon domains allowed?

You will need to check with Godaddy to see if they allow 2 sites on one hosting account. My hunch is, they don't
You will then need to look in their control panel or email them to find out how to set up the seconed site. This is typically called an add-on domain.

Godaddy are OK as a Domain registar but many complain of their hostign services. Find a host taht offers Multi Domain hosting and you'll be able to host more than one web site per account.

The simple answer is you can't.

GD gives a large disk and BW for the money charged. They also offer very good uptime and hosting. Their system is not set up for mutiple domains in one account.

Right?
It might be if you have the Deluxe or Premium plan. I am on the Economy plan.

If you are on one of the others, just try following the directions and please post back here to let us know it worked.

I think what the threadstarter needs is Domain Parking. Just park your old domain to the account and anyone accessing the old domain will be directed to your new domain.

I disagree. Specifically stated wanted it to look like 2 different sites. Pointing and parking is an option with all GD plans.

Hmm... Sorry about misreading the post. However, you can try parking or pointing the 2nd domain to a sub-domain of the 1st. That way, you can have 2 separate websites on the same account.
