Just signed up with Dreamhost, in pure frustration.

I got a very nice price as well, one year of hosting for 22$!! Used a promo code and got 97$ off!!

I'm so looking forward to not having to deal with Godaddys crappy hosting and "support" from now on.

Godaddy.. AAAAAAAAAAAAARRGHHHH!!!!! Just had to get it out.

Make sure you write up a review after you have had experience with their billing/tech/services for a month or two.

This is what happened.

After 7-8 e-mails going back and forth, all Godaddy did was to "misunderstand" my questions (i really don't think that is possible).
They kept sending me copy-paste on prewritten articles on domain forwarding (I wanted help on domain aliasing, and they knew it). Over and over again.
In my last reply (to which I yet have got no answer from GD - and this is almost 2 days ago now), I asked if domain aliasing even was possible, and if this was not the case, why.
I did also request an answer without copy-paste information from articles on domain forwarding.

Maybe GD guys should stick to domain registration and let the hosting be done by poeple with more technical insight.

Do you think they'll give me a refund when i cancel the hosting plan?

I can tell you from experience, that this will almost definitely be a no.

I had a client that had signed up for godaddy hosting, but they didn't even have the things she needed installed on their server (standard programs, like unzip). She went back and forth with them, then I went back and forth with them, and they were unwilling to budge. She finally ended up eating the year's worth she paid for it, and got a $5 hosting package with Surpass instead.

I agree, GoDaddy is a great registrar, but their hosting is less than stellar.

How much space and bandwidth in that price ?
What all does the cpanel include? Glad you are happy with your host

http://www.dreamhost.com/shared/comparison.html

It's the "Crazy Domain Insane!"

Monthly Bandwidth: 1 TB
Automatically Increases Weekly By: 8 GB

Disk Storage at signup: 20 GB
Automatically Increases Weekly By: 160 MB

Also, the price includes a free domain and unlimited domains and subdomains hosted or mirrored.

No cpanel, they have their own panel. So far it's worked just fine for me. It's a bit technical, I'd say.

So far, it seems I'll be very pleased with Dreamhost.

You're saying this because that's how their ads are, right? :P

Hey.. I am haing a dedicated server with them for last 1.5 years and another one for last 6 months. So far, it had been a nice experience.

I understand that the shared hosting is a different area. But most of the times, its case of people not understanding whats being offered to them. How do you expect Winzip to be there for a shared hosting? and what purpose it would serve? They clearly mention the applications/components they support.

The best option is, I think to signup for a monthly contract, if you are moving to a company you never had hosted before.

Na... they refunded all my money when I requested them. I had signed up with them. So I think they are nice when it comes to this.

I have heard many complaints about Godaddy. Most of them are about there hosting plans. There domain business is great though.
