Need help on finding a host!

I've just started (yesturday) to learn PHP and already I am well into my first project: P Drive

The problem is that Lycos have disbaled FTP though PHP & I can only have one FTP account, so every user would have access to the whole site.

I need a host, which is free (or very cheap), who could either give me FTP though PHP scripts, or give me mulitible FTP accounts which could be created though PHP scripts, which would only be able to access their directory (like; /hosted/$username).

Also the host would have to have a MySQL database, big webspace, big enough brandwidth & with PHP which hasn't been disabled like the mail or ftp commands.

I suppose that my site would be a bit like geocities (u know like free webspace etc), but its something I wanted to make for my first PHP site & here it is.

BTW what do you think of the site??
http://members.lycos.co.uk/pdrive/index.php?home

Thanks

Thx, but before I sign up I would like to know if there are any free servers out there. Problery arnt for what I want, but you never know!.

I suppose the FTP scripts could be on another site (while the rest stays on lycos). Does anybody know of a host for that instead?

Hi USS Phenix,

Are you trying to set up FTP accounts through PHP? I don't quite understand what you're asking for. I know that Lycos does offer FTP, but I'm not sure what your trouble is?

I'm trying to get a server which either:

A; Allows me to use the FTP commands in PHP (lycos has dissabled this)

B; Let me setup FTP accounts using PHP commands

Hi USSPhenix,

Don't many hosts allow you to setup FTP accounts through a control panel like Plesk? I'm probably confused here, but I don't think PHP is necessary to setup FTP accounts.

Hi USS Phenix,

It might be worth enquiring at www.eryxma.com, they have pretty much full featured accounts for $16.80 per year, but you would have to enquire about specifics.
