Hosting Multiple domains on one account

I am checking out Virtual Web Hosting - Shared cPanel Linux Hosting Menu here...thinking of getting their "Baby" package.

I saw this where you can host unlimited domains under one account. Typically I am used to getting a seperate account for each domain.

But this maybe more convenient (and instead of paying extra for an extra account) I can only use ONE account for 2 websites, right?

Wierd thing is, would each one have seperate IP addresses? I would think that there would be ONE IP address per account.

So we have 2 domains under ONE IP address? (This might get confusing)

How would you set up Multiple domains, is it much different? They would be 2 seperate websites on 2 seperate genre's altgoether.

I've been reading the purpose of "Mu litple" Domains is in case of mispellings or if it comes CLOSE to your domain name (the spelling or simliar to it)

So just please help me unconfuzle this.

I think you use the ADD ON feature...but do you have to pay EXTRA for a yearly domain fee?

Thanks

Yes, that would be true.

Fact is, shared hosting usually translates in most sites on that server being hosted on one IP. Hundreds of sites on an IP is nothing strange.

Hostgator's shared account comes with the addon domains features. Basically, each addon domain is placed in a subdirectory (yourdomain.com/addondomain). Rest assured, the site's visitors won't see this though. Here's a page with a nice explanation: cPanel Guide : Addon Domains

Domain registering is a different process. Addon domains are simply a hosting feature. You must register each domain separately. I use Namecheap.com for my domain registering needs, and Hostgator for hosting my sites.

There's nothing wrong with setting up two separate websites for two separate genres under one IP address.

Where it becomes a problem is if a) you cross-link them or b) you set up two similar sites under the same genre under one IP address.

As ldcdc pointed out, domain names often share IP addresses without penalty or issue. IP addresses are limited numerically, and a bunch are reserved for internal (e.g. 10.*, 192.*) and ISP (e.g. 24.*) purposes. Domains, on the other hand, are only limited by the imagination and/or stupidity of the owners.

I am plugging my own site, why don't you go here and read the articles about addon domains.

You may also want to read parked domains and reseller accounts. All of these are written with the beginner in mind.

I am not selling anything from the site.

Yeah, I think in the old days....if you wanted to websites, you had to set up two seperate accounts.

What I'm doing is one on paintballing, and another on comic book characters.

So if I had:

If I type "paintballing.com" in one broswer and "comicbook.com" in another, it would take me to different sites, but they are both on one IP address, right?
