Hello,

My problem/question is the following... I hope that someone here can answer this simple/complicated question ...

I'm maintaining a website at a school and I've been asked to create a restricted-access subweb which allows for authentication directly with the school's Windows Server 2003 based Active Directory. I have this set-up and working but the problem that we have is that when the site is accessed from outside the school campus (when the user is not connected to the school's domain) the user must enter the domain name and then a backslash in order for the username and password to be recognized and then authenticated.

Now, I have googled(r) this and I am still stumped. Of course keeping the system the way that it is now is an option, but it poses a problem for some users that have trouble with simply typing in THEIR username and THEIR password ... let alone typing in the domain name and a backslash.

I have attempted to override this by enabling both digest and windows integrated authentication methods entering the school domain name where the usernames are stored in the digest authentication options. Furthermore, we really need to have windows integrated authentication enabled for the site so that teachers logged in inside the school network can log in without having to enter their password over and over again once they have logged into the school domain.

I'm sorry for the length of this post but I rather explain the whole situation clearly (or, atleast, to the best of my ability) ...

Thanks in adance,

Akseli
