Hi to everyone,
I'm creating an ecommerce site and I'm looking for a very reliable hoster to host my site.
I need a windows plan with:
- POP3 emails (at least 20 accounts) with antivirus and antispam service;
- asp and asp.net support;
- perl support;
- at least nr. 10 MySql db;
- Microsoft Access support;
- web statistics;
- custom error pages;
- dedicated IP included;
- at least 10 subdomain available included;
- at least 20 Gb of disk space;
- at least 300 Gb/month of bandwidth;
- uptime not less than 99,99%;
- 24/7/365 helpdesk service included.

Do you know an hoster has this plan in his offer with a robust infrastructure, very reliable.
Thanks

Well, a windows plan is usually working better with mssql, and a storage of 20G is usually not available for a windows shared hosting plan. Would suggest take a look at windows dedicated server providers.
Good luck!

Well, if you want to go dedicated, I will suggest you to take a look at liquidweb.com. They provide fully managed dedicated servers at a reasonable price. Services are good.
P.S. Regarding your ecommercial website, if you would consider about SSL Certificates, we would be help.

Also Servint is a reputable provider.

I have experience only with Hostgator's shared hosting (and they're very good), but I do know they offer managed dedicated servers as well.

I would personally recommend Hostgator.com....Since they aren't a reseller or partner with any other website...So they have their own servers and customer service...

I'm not sure if anyone else is making a recommendation based on dedicated server experience with the company, but I am. I've had my dedicated box with them for 3 years as of December 21, and have never...E-E-EEEEEEEEEVER...regretted it.

They've been down exactly twice in the 3 years since I started with them, both times hardware-related (which is going to happen...computer equipment does break) and neither time was for more than an hour.

The only thing you won't get on that list is the 99.99% uptime. You won't get that with any hosting provider, no matter what they claim. It's realistically impossible on a single dedicated box setup.

Here's why (assuming 30-day month):

30 days = 720 hours.
720 hours x 99.99% uptime = 719.928 hours = 719 hours, 55 minutes, 41 seconds
Therefore, downtime = 4 minutes, 19 seconds per month

If something goes wrong with your hardware, and at some point it will no matter WHO your provider is (remember, they're machines, they break), is it going to be solved in 4 minutes, 19 seconds? Not likely.

99.5% is reasonable in this regard, IMHO. That gives the host a few hours to diagnose and fix a problem without being under the pressure cooker and thus prevent recurrence.

As far as the other stuff, ASP/.NET/Access are all standard on their servers, as does Perl I believe (not sure on that since I don't use it).

They can throw AWStats on there for you for free, or you can pay an extra $2 a month for LiveStats (which I'm not a fan of since their .XSP interface) or SmarterStats (which I haven't tried yet).

You can install MySQL and put as many DBs on there as you like.

Custom errors are easy to configure through the Terminal Server interface.

Subdomains take them an hour or two to set up, but you can have as many of those as you like too.

And every server comes with one dedicated IP.

They're not a one-person outfit either. I know this because there are at least 5 different employees that I know of...a Brian, a Matt, and three Jasons.

****...I should be selling this. I'm only a customer. heh

Seriously, just tell them Adam from ADAM Web Design sent you. They'll treat you well. They always have me and I've been a customer of theirs 4.5 years (had shared hosting for 1.5 years before going dedicated.) And considering most hosts aren't even around a month, that says something.

Do you think big ecommerce sites use osCommerce or similar for their shops?
No, they just use personalized ecommerce system lets you do exactly what you need and let you upgrade your site for specific needs. Do you think osCommerce lets you do this? If so, upgrading an existing code is more difficult than creating a new one.

> find hosting plan that supporting those script. 123 setup and done

I have it, but do you think you could have a professional ecommerce site with that scripts?
It depends on what you are looking for or, better, on what you wanna sell.

I prefer creating the site by myself and know what the site is running.

> you been creating/coding an ecommerce site in ASP?

Is it a problem? Most sites use asp/asp.net for their ecommerce system (TigerDirect.com is one of them)
