With some easy to find coupons, you can get 20GB space and 1TB bandwidth at dreamhost for less than $2 a month (a little less than $24 a year). Is there any host that can beat this deal, especially if they have cpanel because the lack of cpanel on dreamhost is the only thing keeping me from signing up.
Btw, i have no affiliation with dreamhost, i am just looking for the best hosting deal.
just checkout their site. a pretty good package they offering. guess their bandwidth is largest now.
btw. think they not hav affiliate program. quick search, cant find any.
I used to be a customer at DH, so here is my 2c:
If you are just average, normal users (no-commercial site), it's ok to go with them.
If you want to use up that space+bw: they will find a way to kick you out.
I also have 2 websites hosted by Dreamhost. Of course, it goes without saying, the 1 TB transfer limit isnt't for real. I use about 55 GB a month, and I've never experienced any problems.
It's impossible to offer 20GB space and 1TB of Bandwith.
That is offered by Dedicated Webhosting Companies like ev1 and/or theplanet and/or 1and1, etc.
Companies like DreamHost make with clents some bad things, like stop your account give you a backup and return the rest of the money, or tell you that you hack their servers, use more than X% ot CPU usage (this is not every time written in their TOS/Agreement). Or they can terminate you account and this is the most bad thing that can happend with big hosting companies like DreamHost, IPOWWEB, GoDaddy or etc.
To be with the biggest is now always best mind this !
You are right. It happened once with godaddy...that the website became very slow..to the point that a download of 5MB was taking so much time that the browser was timingout. As a result, we had to discontinue our hosting plan with godaddy (that offered 100GB BW, but could not meet even a 20GB demand). If one is serious about hosting a professional website that requires higher bw, space, or server resources, they should keep away from such offers. This kind of offers are usually aimed at people that are looking at casual web hosting services, and not aware of intricacies involved in web hosting services. Checkout other professional webhosting companies like pair.com before deciding. You will also find that many of these hosts that offer excellent bandwidth could not offer a dedicated IP. A dedicated IP is always better for a professional website. Hope this helps.
