It is Saturday, why don't you send them an email asking a few questions and see how fast they get back to you.

Did I answer your question?

As colbyt implied, their support is very very slow. But web speed is one of the best as is uptime. If you're a cPanel diehard you won't like their control panel, but it is quite workable.

If you do order, don't get their free software package; it locks you into a one year contract. Also, register your domain somewhere else, or in your case, don't transfer it to them.

I've only been with them a few months this time but had a site there for a year about a year and a half ago. Now running three domains on their 'home' package with no problems so far.

Does "financially efficent" mean cheap? If so, they are. If you're doing this for yourself, you'll probably have no problems. But if it's for a client and you turn it over to them they may have problems getting support from 1and1.

I really can't make a knowledgeable suggestion. I only have experience with 1and1 and ipowerweb. (I have one site on ipowerweb which I'll be moving to 1and1 when the contract expires.) Of the two, 1and1 seems better, especially considering the price.
