hi all,

trying to install webmin on CENTOS... have tried the following two packages from the webmin site:

webmin-1.300-1.noarch.rpm
webmin-1.300-1.src.rpm

when i try to install them i get the following error:

[root@host ~]# rpm -U webmin-1.300-1.src.rpm
webmin-1.300-1.src.rpm: not an rpm package (or package manifest):


any one have any ideas?

the .src.rpm file is a source file and needs to be built before you can install it.
You should be able to use the noarch version however, using the command you entered. What happens when you try that?

Using rpm and the latest webmin package works.

It is sorted not as I have moved to a managed server and get my admin to do it all

It was easy i think instead of rpm - U command you needed to use rpm -i command. Plus as suggested before source would not work, probably from looks of it you were missing some other package from your server.

But since problem solved, /me walks away .

Issue should be resolved as Sir P Said to us.
