I think that you should pay for post on your forum first time.

Giving something for free such as eBooks and infos, that' s a great idea. Paying people for posting is somewhat practical but I'll try to make this a cheap as possible.
Thank you friends.

Do you already have the forum running? What topics are you focusing on?

i run many forums and i know many people leave there forum there without doing anything.
Find people and tell them that you are going to make them adm or mod or sup mod if they come to your forum. If they come they will start posting if they don't then tell them that you will find others. they post they feel your forum with post and then you submit your website to search engines.
then you start affiliating with other websites try find forums.
When the people come you start giving prices (the best price is giving websites you get an article free a domain free and a hosting free and you make it in a second )many people want a price like that

finish i hope i helped

Creating a forum is easy. Getting people to use it? Not so easy.

What topics will your forum be focused on? In order to get people interested the topics have to be stimulating. The posts should also be about topics that people want to discuss, as well as helpful information for people.

Forums require a lot of time and effort, especially in the beginning. In most cases, forums don't create much income for your website (if that is what you're hoping to accomplish).

Good luck.

Asuka,

It sounded from your original question that you were looking for help on two fronts - 1) installing a forum, and 2) driving traffic to the forum.

The first one is the easy part, especially since your web host provides installation scripts (Fantastico I'm assuming?). Here's a tutorial that covers installing WordPress or Drupal using Fantastico if it helps to have some screen shots and step-by-step instructions.

The second one is a much larger issue that cannot be answered in a single post or thread. Some of the topics you should start studying up on and googling are search engine optimization, pay-per-click (PPC) advertising using Google adwords or Yahoo Overture, and organic link building which is done by getting involved in other forums (providing valuable content and assistance, and including a link to your site in your signature - which is normally acceptable, but be sure to check the forum's posting rules to make sure).

One other suggestion is to offer a free service or product for a limited time, in return for a testimonial. Once you build up some traffic and testimonials, then you have a reputation and can revert to making money on the deal instead of giving it away. You can post the testimonials, which will help build confidence in your service or products.
