My company recently purchased a godaddy dedicated server running off of Windows Server 2003 - Web Edition as well as a Cisco PIX 501 External Hardware Firewall. We were up and running no problem unti labout 2 weeks ago when the site started timing out left and right. We could not Remote in or really do anything with the server and are stuck with just opening trouble tickets with godaddy.

It has been a solid two weeks where this has been going on, and the latest resonse that we have gotten from godaddy is

"It seems that the firewall configuration is being corrupted or mis-configured for some reason"

my question, has anyone had this sort of problem with godaddy or any servers? we are at a loss at what is going on since the site is usually down so we can not even get into it to troubleshoot. The site can be found at

hi, why would u need a PIX for this case. its more to a vpn router.

basically u just secure ur server system, use the datacenter firewall (port blocking). then u r done. putting a PIX on the middle of that will cause u lots of configuration job.

i involved in this PIX once. and it wasted us 1 week plus of non productive week. the conclution is. either ur side pix, or datacenter pix, can cause the problem. once down, u will need technical people to fix it. no way for remote. i hate to drive my way to datacenter jsut to login and recheck setting. waste of time n effort totally.

pix .. use it when u have ur server at ur premises only. recommended

buying a server from godaddy is not a good idea theyre a horrible provider.

if your a company i would susgest you try going to www.rackspace.co.uk theyre prices are quite high but the level off service they offer is very high. you can go to theyre website or phone them and within 5 seconds someone will assist you straight away.

they also offer 100% uptime on all servers.

this company is rated number 1 in the hosting indrusty.

rackspace is good, but tooo costly to make sense for a normal webmaster! You may try removing the firewall, add another one probably a month later.
