As a beginer looking for 1Gig Space and 1Gig Traffic with php, sql and ftp.

So, how cheap the dirt cheap that is acceptable and be able to provide good service.

I never knew there was hosting as cheap as $0.99/mth but I myself wouldnt try it out. Reason being such cheap hosts are probably one man shows and may very well fold up any time either due to the hosting owner losing interest or not making money. Cheap is not always good, but of course if there was a really cheap host that performs, which I dont think so for that kind of price, I'd be most interested to know....

Maybe a few clues to look out for are length of time in business, speed of the site loading, and what is the level of customer support (try asking a few questions) .

If the server speed is slow and has frequent downtime, which is likely for that kind of price, I dont think a site like that will keep visitors for long...plus Google spiders will be hindered and so would your PR.

When you get below about $5-8/month I find it hard to believe they could properly serve the customer.

never search for cheap hosting as you will get kids trying to run a business.

if you really value your web site and want it to be up more than 99.7% off the time i suggest you pay that little extra.

i recommend you try www.hostingdepartment.net or www.kernow-webhosting.com. these are two execllent web hosting companies that offer great uptime and very fast support responses they have also been in business for over 2 years and know and ins and outs off the web hosting indrusty.

You get what you pay for in life. If you spend .99 cents per month on web hosting, you can expect to get .99 cents worth of service. Paying between $5 and $10 a month is a sensible price for web hosting.

Anyone experience with http://www.hostdepartment.com/ ? The packages offered look tempting. Start from $3.++, anyway the $5.95 is more of my like I guess. On top of the unmetered space/traffic, I need php.

According to me its not a sensible or reliable option to take up the hosting for as low as 0.99$ a month. I think one should look for reliable hosts and then compare their pricing. But nothing good and reliable would come to you in less then 5$ a month, infact in 5$ also the offers are rarely seen.

Usually 8$ to 11$ a month is good hosting service for 1Gig of webspace. Yet if you go in branded & most trusted names, the 1gig would not cost you anything less then 25$ a month.

Be wise in choosing your host if you are looking for long term relation with your upcoming website.

Hosts that offer $1 hosting are only doing that in hopes that you will soon upgrade to the next package up. I see alot of hosts doing this, but in my opinion it is'nt very smart. You should choose a host that has logical packages and pricing, as they will no doubt outlast the host that has insane pricing!

I'd recomend godaddy - they are about 3.99/month to start - less if you pay for it by the year. They don't have cpanel access and you can't do some things - so make sure you talk to them first about what your looking to do. but the good news is that they have great 24/7 tech support.

i guess its very very limited of what we get.

i rather paid more for better services.

lately 2 days, i saw server downtime occur. and guess wat, page visit drop to less than half, comparing other days. this is scarely and unacceptable.

if its less then 5.00 they cant even afford to do email support. Plain and simple!

I do accept hosting service may cost $0.99, if somebody sells it, then it's profitable for him, just don't expect the highest quality from this offer.

The golden rule to remember for hosting services is that, you get what you have paid for. Such low packages per month means nothing, but just headache for your website and more problems with the webhost.
Always choose your host wisely who offer reasonable prices and who are reliable in their uptime and customer support.

Ya, it is always better to take some relaible hosting at least from a person with good rating/itrader in some forum etc.
I agree 0.99c per month is really nothing if you count the paypal fees.
