Can anyone share their views on the hosts they use now or in the past that have been pretty reliable in terms of support and uptime but still decently priced?

I've had good experiences with both Hostroute and Gearhost, currently hosting one site with each... Gearhost only have Windows hosting at present and being one of the earlier customers I have one of the older accounts that were much better value for money. My experience of support for both has been favorable but having not needed support for a few month I can't tell you what sort of response you should expect at the moment...

Hi abctracker,
I've had great experiences with www.9cy.net as a host, thus far, but they aren't accepting signups at the moment. I have heard much positive feedback about www.myacen.com (reliability, uptime, and cheap) over at another forum, and I know that www.futurequest.com is a very reliable host, though it's not necessarily cheap. One of the cheapest hosts I know is www.valcato.net , and I haven't heard any reports of downtime as of yet. I hope this helps!

paid hosting we currently use:
www.StressFreeHosting.com
www.Pair.com
Have been with pair for years & with Stress free less then a year. Both have excellent, professional services. Nothing can top the personal courtesy & support of stressfree.

at present the only two hosts i'd touch would be www.hostone.co.uk and www.lmhost.co.uk - mainly as i know and am in continual contact with the owners, thus i can get instantanious support when i need it, on AIM or through their tech support.
for reliability, they're good. i did get an email last week, while i was on holiday, saying the server was down, but the error was corrected in a matter of minutes from what i have gathered, i still have 99% uptime with them.
lmhost.co.uk - the owner went on holiday a few weeks ago, problem i would have thought, lots of tech support issues. but, he made a specific job of giving me his mobile number before he went away so that any issues that i had could be resolved, so as not to cause me any inconvenience because of his unavailability. this i would say was a big advantage. it shows dedication and commitment.

Haha,
3 GB!!!! Where are you going to find a host for that?!!!
I have had that happen to one of my other sites, but it was closer to 10GB a month. To think I was paying them $20/month!

i've used purple paw for my hosting... their packages are only small, but they're cheap.... come with a free domain name and the support is excellent, i've only ever needed it once, through no fault of theirs, and they returned an email explaining everything within 1/2 an hour...
however... a friend of mine is setting up his own hosting soon, just a small one, not for any real profit at the moment, but nevertheless he'll be able to give me as much space and bandwidth as needed with minimal charge!
