Can you install cPanel DNS and cPanel on one server.

I want to start my own free web hosting and I was wondering if you create a cPanel account will the DNS info be updated automatically .

e.g. I create a cPanel account , with the sub-domain free.abzhost.com, Will cPanel DNS only direct this sub-domain to my cPanel server's I.P. automatically?

I'm kinda confused if someone can add me on MSN long_live_kamikazies@hotmail.com and explain everything, It would be greatly appreciated.

I heard that you can, check cpanel.net to verify. You must have a powerful machine though, at least 512MB RAM

Three things:

1. If you use cPanel, it already contains the DNS scripts, no need to run both
2. If you create an account in cPanel, you still need to register & point the domain @ your favourate domain registrar
3. IF you still want both, and you have a dedi, install OpenVZ / XEN / Virtuzzo to create a virtual server for the cPanel DNS

And if you need something free that works great as well then try WebMin. I refused to give my host $10 each month to have Cpanel installed for me ^^.

Yeah, I think WebMin may help you in it much.

You have to learn from DNS basics. The short answer is it is possible, but you must create your dns server and point the domain name.
