(seem like its the right place to post this here)
i am very new to free hosting service, and its a very tricky business as i seen. Here is what i 'planning'
(not promoting myself, i not yet have this service)...
"100MB of free hosting space, 1GB bandwidth, cpanel, fantastico, pop email, Mysql, PHP for sure, etc etc. But, with ads on footer, no other ads, no forum posting. Will this free hosting be attractive enough?
...and As per your experience or opinion, how many signup will i gain per mth??

1 GB transfer is not very much. You will certainly have some signups, but only from sites attracting little visitors. If you want better sites, offer at least 3GB (5 is recommended) of transfer, possibly with other limitations like file-size limit of 1MB or so.

Is this just going to be a part time venture or are you looking to make a living from hosting? With what you describe you'll probably get a few clients, but they will probably only be running little hobby sites that get very little traffic, as well as fail to promote your service.

ya, the size and bandwidth is little compare to others.
but, in return user will get full feature of php hosting, own domain, database, fantastico etc etc.
indeed i still considering to allow flexibility in space. in case user ask for more space, and there is a need, i will upgrade free to them.
not part time venture, i been in hosting related biz for almost a year now. and free hosting services, is on my top list this moment.

It's really not bad for beginners I think. Why not? This experience helps you in future very much.

That's true! I started with free hosting too.

Does this only imply webspace, or brandwidth too? Because the space is more than enough for most sites, the brndwidth's the big drawback.

I like the idea, but you could perhaps ask a fee to remove the advertising at the bottom?
I paid about $11 a month for 100MB disk space, 2GB transfer, 1 SQL database, 15 e-mail addresses (with POP & SMTP), PHP, PHPbb and nothing much else beside them hosting my domain
If I knew a year ago what I know now, I would have moved long ago.

as i see the marketing is with lots of overselling, where we easily can find 200GB.. 300GB space for shared hosting.
with reseller account, i cant beat that, not to imagine the marketing work require. there is low margin at the end.

I would suggest provide some more bandwidth like 5 GB.
500 MB Space and 5 GB bandwidth will be good to start off..
Now since people are discussing this here, I have a question.
Is there any free software available that will automatically create cpanel acct when user signs up, put a link below the website created and remove the link when user pays thru paypal. All these automatically?

Is it really worth it?
I mean, let's say you pay $200 for a decent dedi (2 - 4GB RAM, 120 - 2x160GB HDD's, etc), and you "sacrifice" the whole server on free hosting clients, but only got about 10 real sign ups from the banners, is it really worth it? On 500MB, you only need about 200 sites for a server like this to be full, and if the hosting is free, the free clients WILL come
