Ok right now I'm so pissed off , you can't imagine how pissed off I can be, here's my issue with those thieves @ ev1servers:

I have a linux dedicated server with them with Plesk CP for 100 domains and 1 IP. I currently have 1 site on my server hosted. Today I bought another domain and vBulletin software to create another site on the server, a forum. For this , I have requested another IP.

Here's my story below with them:

Please note that ARIN requires the use of Name-Based hosting wherever possible. We must follow the guidelines given to us by ARIN (http://www.arin.net), the organization which oveWebTechs IP address allocation in the United States. They require that we have documentation of the purpose for each IP address assigned and that addresses not be assigned merely for the purpose of webhosting, since that can be accomplished by namebased hosting. So if as part of your request you could provide us with the technical reasons you need each additional address, such as SSL, anonymous FTP, custom software, etc, then we would be happy to assign them to you.

Please resubmit request with further details as to why dedicated IPs are required over name based hosting.

We have 5 different catigories for additional IP's. DNS, SSL, FTP, and Other. For DNS, SSL, FTP they are automatically accepted. For the Other category you need justify you reason for needing the IP. Becuase of a limited about of additional IP's per subnet we take each reason and decide if it is justified enough for using the IP's. In this case you reason is not justified enough.

What did I did wrong ? It's my right to have another site on my server since I can host 99 more using my plesk CP and use the server space as I want for how many domains I want.

Sorry for my poor english, but I really appreciate some thoughts from you guys in this matter.

They're not wrong. You are 100% wrong. I know that's not what you want to hear...you're looking for support for your opinion. But it's true.

Additional sites do NOT require additional IP addresses. There's a search engine myth that exists that dedicated site IP addresses make a difference in rankings, but they really don't. Other than that, anything you're trying to accomplish CAN be accomplished through name-based hosting, as was suggested to you earlier.

There are only so many IP addresses to go around, and a bunch of them are already assigned long before hosting comes into play. Internal IPs, external (Internet) IPs assigned by ISPs, blocks owned by government agencies for their own Internet reasons, etc. So there aren't many left.

This is where virtual hosting comes into play. You can put as many sites as you want on a single IP without any additional difficulty or issue. All you have to do is add the domain to the DNS server and off you go. (Chances are your host will have to do that for you, but it's not difficult.)

I don't often take the side of a host, either, but in this case they're telling you the truth. You're just being silly because either you don't understand what virtual hosting is or you just want more IPs for no good reason. Any other host will tell you the same thing.

Sorry Zukk, Adam is 100% correct on this one and you are 100% inexperieced.

(1) Your host gave you good advice, and you obviously don't understand it.
(2) You can host almost an unlimited number of sites on the same IP address.
(3) Since we have free will and a free market, if you don't like their procedures, you're welcome to vote with your dollars. You not liking a policy you agreed to doesn't amount to theft.

For those who didn't know. A few good reasons you may need another IP would be for secured shopping. http -vs- https in simple English.

That's true, but that's not his reason for wanting another IP. His reason is to host a site with a vBulletin forum, which will run just fine on a shared IP.

Yeah and even if the company IS stealing from you, the poor support tech is just someone making a bit over minimum wage, trying to close enough tickets not to get fired, and then go home. They don't benefit in any way from what the marketing or legal departments do, and they don't have any power to undo it. I can understand being angry at a company you feel is doing you wrong, but like the kids say, you "had no beef" with the tech.

Yeah I think you are pretty much right on that as I guess zukk failed to understand the scenario which took place which got him in trouble.
Zukk – the hosting service is right at their end but I’m afraid you’ll need to give a proper justification of the desired IP you are looking for.

Everything that could be said has been said; zukk if you had any decency you would admit you were wrong and write that tech to apologize.

He most likely has just dropped this post on a number of boards to never return. I know dealing with tech support can be frustrating, but in this instance they were 100% right.
