Hi, hope I have the correct forum.

I have FTP access to my webspace using my saved password but cannot access it anyother way as I get an incorrect password error.

I can see the password in my ftp client but it doesnt work on anything else.

Can I change the password for my account via the FTP client?

I am using SmartFTP.

No, it doesn't work that way ... FTP is about transferring files, and unless you know where your server's security info is kept, which would be a security breach...

But it's normal to have different passwords for your FTP and shell accounts. Contact your host's support dept and they'll be able to help you.

Sounds like you're sorted, although I would definitely contact your host, they can reset the password for you to login and change the password and gain full usage again.

you should change the password thru SSH or any telnet way if you have root access to your server. You can not and never change password using your FTP client.

In Windows Platform, you can change your password... with FTP..
