I'm new to hosting a website. I've got two questions.
I have got a site which is for the support group my mum and me and some other people are getting up and I'm wanting to get it hosted. It is currently hosted for free but as I've found the space is limited and get ads.
I've looked around and found dreamhost and it seems to be what i'm looking for. Is this a good hosting service. I've looked around and found people saying it is good and others saying it isn't really good. If not, do you have any other recommendations on a hosting service that would offer around the same amount of the level 1 on dreamhost.

My second question is i'm wanting to get a domain name but want to have .au at the end. I've heard you can pay for a domain name and get the site hosted separately then you need to do something about a dns address?
How does this work?

Edit: I have about Au$200 to get me started. I'm looking at spending around AU$100-$150 a year or 2 years for the domain name and hosting together.

Go to www.streamline.net they have a 3 month trial hosting, after that you can cancel or move up to their unlimited package which is about $80 for 1 years hosting, they also sell domain names for about $16 for 2 years. Alternatively buy the domain name you require from www.godaddy.com and when you find the host you want just change the DNS of the domain to your hosts. Inside the godaddy control panel there is an option DNS1 and DNS2 you will be told what to change it to by your host.

www.bluehost.com is great for me, you get 2000 gigs of transfer and alot more for about £50 a year, 200 gigs of space and you can pay by paypal

i would suggest: hostgator, bluehost
