Hi - I have uploaded a couple of small web sites using free hosts (no adverts, php mysql included). Although I have found that they have been down a few times.

Obviously going by the 'get what you pay for' I cant really complain. However I am going to need to upload more sites. I've done 2 already and working on another 3. I would like 1 host where I can upload all my sites too, with minimal downtime and mysql/php support for when I make a database of users/ products (still learning).

I dont know if theres any other features I should look for ?

Any recommendations for a good value host welcomed. I use 1and1 for domains as I've found them cheapest at less than £5 for 2 years co.uk or org.uk

just a hosting service where i can upload, say 5 different sites, maybe more.

must be reliable, and be able to handle php and mysql (which i am currently learning)

i honestly dont know if there are any other features i need as i am new to this

must be good value though. i like to shop around thats how i found 1and1 for the domains.

I use 1 and 1 (US) to host 8 very small domains, but not to register them. For that I use Dynadot. I've been running this way for about 6 months with no problems. (Not sure if this is necessary, but one domain hosted there is http://vinylbytes.com)

I just noticed you're from the UK. From posts I've seen here and elsewhere, there seems to be a big difference between the US and UK offices of 1 and 1. Most of the negative posts seem to concern the UK office of 1 and 1.

I use an Australian Company called NetRegistry.

They are very professionally ran, good service, great support, and next to no down time (I have been using them for over a year and havn't had a problem).

What kind of budget do you have?
You might consider a multi - domain plan. Most hosts have this.

Nobody bothers to mention Hostgator, they have great hosting for your buck, check em out.

I paid up front for six months hosting about £70. This was a huge mistake. After 2 weeks I received the following message:
Hello Richard,
DDoS account target (domain name deleted). We have been forced to suspend the account. Sorry for that.

I contacted them and they were most unhelpful, then ignored me. They will not provide me any details of the DDOS which I actually think didn't happen. No one even knew the web site was there!
Servage are thieves and dishonest, I am bitterly disappointed.
