MediaTemple vs. Dreamhost ?

I'm currently looking for thoughts on these two major hosting companies. MediaTemples Grid Servers looks promising, yet Dreamhost seems to offer similar bandwidth and scaling for low prices. Does anyone have any experience with either, or both?

I currently have a VDS with GoDaddy, but it will be a pain in the a** to upgrade my platform. They don't offer the fedora upgrades without buying a new package and transferring everything. So I decided to just purchase hosting.

I'd also like to know of any good or bad experiences with Media temple. Currently with Hosting Zoom who have been good so far but as I haven't really launched the site yet, I've had no bandwidth downtime issues yet.

I'm looking to mirror my site on a second host and simply switch nameservers should any major downtime occur.

Media Temple gets great Kudos with designers and their logo seems to be a badge at the moment - Do they live up to the hype? They certainly look the business.

Dreamhost are awfull! MT all day long!!

I've heard that some DreamHost servers got hacked, because a customer were allowed to install some harmful 3rd party applications or something like that. That does not sound very good. I would go with MT.

I have saw tutorials about buying webhosting on dreamhost with a hacked credit cards .. These guys must work about "FRAUD" protection !

i would say media temple would be a better choice. A really famous and popular technology site (www.techcrunch.com) swears by mediatemple. and there site loads fast and havent seen it go down yet.

Sidenote:
It still boggles me that providers don't jump into high gear when faced with the possibility of loss sales, due to issues that people are talking about everywhere. Why not fix the problems pronto and incorperate what the competition is doing to take their sales?
