I use hostgator and have been using them for the past 3-4 years. So far I've had no problems =D and their live support is always helpful

I register my names with 1and1 but I host with http://eukhost.com and http://fast-web-hosting.duoservers.com/

I keep my name registering with 1and1 because I find it handy/easy/cheap.

Hhowever, I've got a handful of domains that are parked and I wanted to give the Google Adsense for Parked Domains a whirl this morning, so started to do that and there were instructions to follow with 1and1 that Google provided and the problem with them is that the CNAME space has a letter quantity limit so you can't just copy/paste into the box on the 1and1 site, which was annoying. You have to do something else, which I skimmed over and thought "s0d it" and left it.

Overall http://eukhost.com provide good service and they have one of those instant chats when things go awry, but they do seem to randomly drop in the middle of the night frequently. Not for long, but that's annoying. No problems yet with http://fast-web-hosting.duoservers.com/ though, but it's early days for me and them.

From reviewing this thread, you can see how much opinions vary among hosts.

It really depends on the experience one has.

That really doesn't hold. If one customer experiences a lot of downtime, chances are all customers will experience a similar amount. Customer service is harder to define. One customer may get a CS rep that is having a bad day and all other customers always receive good customer service. If several people get bad customer service or one person gets bad customer service repeatedly, then it's a better case. However, hosting is pretty easily defined in quality and not particularly subjective.

There is no definite answer to the best or the worst host. But you can judge by yourself how good a host is by reading reviews about the host. The reviews I'm talking about here are not those from "TOP 10 Web Host" or "Best Web Host" sites.

If you read those reviews chances are you would probably end up with a bad host than if you had not read any reviews. Look for pure user reviews and not editor reviews. Check out forums like this or visit some reliable web host review sites.

Another thing I would consider when choosing a web host is how important my website is. If your website is so important that any problems could cause you thousands of dollars of loses then you probably want to pay the $60-$100 extra for a capable host and not some cheap $2/month host that kids use to host their blogs.

the best host iv every used is rapidvps.com i have been with another great host a few year ago but i cant remember the name now. iv been with a few hosts then are gone in a month or two

Fortunately i hav never had bad experience, possibly because I never deal companies before knowing something of them and analysing the data.

The best hosts are t my mind specilists which are giving special conditions for certain technology or content type, such as hostjava for example.

I am currently using JustHost and they have been good for me so far.

depending what kind of site you wanna host. The wrong choice could bring you a nightmare. And you better know what are the strength&weakness of chosen host before signing up.

To know the best and worst web hosting, i think it must be try it first before you decide it..so,you can compare with the other company who offers the best plan..
