I had my site on a dedicated server since 2001 lately I had a lot of problems with the service (XO) and I had to change... I took another dedicated server but I'm not sure what to do from here.. the website runs on both for now...
if I type the new ip to the browser I get the site with no ranking at all it is still the same url but it seems that I lost all of my page ranks and so...

is there a way to do the move better and not loose my positions in the searches?

Leave it on both until such time as your new IP is recognized around the world (i.e. when the domain transfer fully propagates). This can easily enough be tested by putting a new page on the server, linking to it from the main page, and seeing when the search engines index it.

What do you mean by "no ranking"? Do you mean "no PageRank"? If so, toolbar PageRank is meaningless and shouldn't be taken into account anyway. Supposedly there is something going on with PageRank where it doesn't show up all the time, although I haven't seen it personally.

You are right...I meant no page rank... the rankings are the same...
for how long usually I should keep both servers up?
one more question... keeping both ip numbers with the exact content and exact everything can't be looked at as a duplicate site and get me banned?

24-48 hours, depending on domain propagation.

Yeah due time it will happen. Sux i know, but at least the site will be up. if you took it off the first server then some people coudl not get to your site.
