Hi all,

Considering moving to a dedicated server with either layered tech or the planet...

sameish price just about $10 more at the planet but ive heard good things there...

Anyway what do you guys think? Any scare storys about either of these?

I wouldn't really recommend the planet (having had a few servers there over the years) - their "managed" service may as well not be, and they're also widely known as a spam tolerant provider, and therefore are very readily blacklisted. We had various other specific problems with their services that I don't expect you'd encounter, and I'd rather not discuss them - suffice to say that our experiences with TP were less than perfect.

I haven't got anything reliable to add about layered tech, so no comment either way from me - hopefully someone else can fill you in on them.

consider switch to hostgator dedicated server, fully managed by them. and is located at the planet.

i having shared hosting with them, at the planet, and the server is very good.
