I have assigned the name servers on the registrar (registered the ips)

Works when setting name servers to them in lower case on 123-reg, however on GoDaddy it saves in uppercase and doesn't seem to be working. I don't know whether its a misconfiguration with the server or with the registrar.

Help?

It isn't (shouldn't) be case sensitive - just as if you enter HTTP://WWW.GOOGLE.COM it will work same as http://www.google.com - everything related to domain names is case insensitive.

It's likely there is some other issue, or otherwise just a DNS propagation delay?

What's the domain? Makes it a lot easier to check for you if you can provide that...

www.b-d-p.co.uk is working but redirects to site on another server

ns1.b-d-p.co.uk
ns2.b-d-p.co.uk are what the name servers are

the duel doesn't work (but wierdly on proxify.com it does)

the ONLY difference is that theyre on different registrars and the duel has name servers saved in upper case

The problem could be caused by using .co.uk nameservers - we've seen problems with this in the past.

However, there's a few other bits and pieces you may want to look at: (url removed by request of OP)

I would say main ones:
  • Add A records for your nameservers
  • Correct NS records for your domain
Both of the above can cause problems with some ISP's DNS servers, which will stop your domain resolving properly (for some users). I would say that the fact it works via proxify.com probably supports this theory.

If the above doesn't work (remember, you may need to allow time for propagation), I would recommend using nameservers on a TLD such as .com or .net - these tend to offer more reliable results.

Beyond that, the obvious thing you're missing is redundancy - but I presume that you're aware of that? (this won't stop it working, but will kill your DNS service with a single blow to the head)

Thank you.

However I do not know how to fix these problems in Plesk. Anyone know?

Have managed to fix alot of the problems but it's still not working.

Scratch that, seems to be working now.

Add A records for your nameservers
You need to enter the DNS management section for the domain used for your nameservers (in this case, b-d-p.co.uk) - assuming this domain is managed within Plesk of course...

Then you simply add a new DNS record:
  • enter ns1.b-d-p.co.uk for the name
  • select 'A' as the type
  • enter the IP corresponding to ns1.b-d-p.co.uk; i.e. 62.193.250.251

Correct NS records for your domain
In the DNS management section for the domain you're hosting (i.e. the one using your nameservers) - e.g. the-duel.info
  • Remove any existing NS records that shouldn't be there... e.g. ns.the-duel.info
  • Add a new DNS record: name, leave blank; type, NS; record, ns1.b-d-p.co.uk
  • Add another new DNS record: name, leave blank; type, NS; record, ns2.b-d-p.co.uk

That should be it. You will probably also find that you have an A record for ns.the-duel.info - you can safely remove this as well.

Glad that you got it working - I thought I'd add the details above in case anyone else reading this thread later has same sort of problems...

However, if you have Plesk admin access (e.g. this is your own VPS/dedicated server) then you may also like to edit the default DNS template so that additional domains you create in future already have the above edits in place.

If you want to do this, look in Server > DNS

Also, don't forget about the Plesk Documentation and Tutorials
