I am looking for a web host for my site
i've been looking on HostGator but the plans have bit too much disk space & bandwidth for what i'm looking for
anyone know of any sites that offer quality hosting that arnt too expensive

GoDaddy.com's been great for me.

The larger companies are not so much about performance or quality but more for bandwith.

For specific terms, look for "application hosting", "clustered hosting", "load balanced" hosting. These are relatively new terms in the hosting business and are targeted towards performance as opposed to bulk hosting.

Remember to be cautious of companies offering unlimited features or plans that seem way too cheap for what they're offering

If you found a presentable one make sure you test their support response first. Try send them and email or a ticket asking about anything related to their services or something you wish to know about. Find out how long it took them to answer your questions.
From there you will know that when you have trouble in your hosting with them and require help, they would respond fast. It's the most important thing for you to consider when choosing a web host company.

you ay consider custom web hosting plan, I got mine from Eskhosting and I am very pleased that custom web hsoting service is being developped. Really I see no reason to pay for terrabytes of traffic with oversellers if I know that I need 200 MB of disk space for my personal homepage and just 5 Gb of traffic

THEN check out their support - they boast about being online 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, yet when I checked, they're offline! What?! If they promise they are different by having 24/7 support, why are they offline?

Just seen something else - unlimited bandwidth promises. No host can offer this because there is no such thing as unlimited bandwidth/space etc.

It maybe wise to also seek out a hosting company which offers you customizable plans. Then you'll only pay for what you really need and use.

I don't have time enough to look thru all the threads, but 247-host.com client got all his issues fixed after moving to another server and even posted an update admitting that he's quite happy about 247-host.com services now.

Yes it's true you get satisfied and dissatisfied clients, but I'm really unsure why there are so many dissatisfied clients that are extremely angry with them - why is there such a difference between the supposedly brilliant reviews and then the terrible reviews? It just seems a bit dodgy to me, but you've got your own right to think something different.

ok, I see, I don't really want to advocate 247-host.com, I just want to prove that one may be rather selective when choosing what reviews to post, can you show me a review page of a company where only positive stuff is published, you are a host yourself, you know it's not easy, so when I look at the review from

With so many hosts out there, why go for 247-host? They seem to have lot of dodgy reviews which just makes me suspicious. While most hosts have the occasional bad review, some of 247-host just seem terrible and there are a lot of these.

Go for a big host like 1and1 or fasthosts for affordability possibly. Larger hosts CAN offer better support in some circumstances, so if you choose to opt for a big hosting company, make sure they have a live chat service.

This again reminds me of 247-host's support - it said 24 hours, 7 days a week but it was offline when I checked it a while ago which is strange.

I said before, but I'll say again, be warned of hosts offering unlimited bandwidth (247-host being the example here). No host can offer truly unlimited - if someone started using 100TB of bandwidth, they'd go mad and ban him, YET they offer UNLIMITED! With several things like this against them, I'd choose to opt for another host if I were you
