For example, my hosting provider set buerst limit at 6 Mbps.
I don't think that's a standard approach to things, but you make me curious, who is your provider, and how did you find out about that limit?

I don't want to name my provider.

The limit on burst usage was mentioned in their newsletter: they said that they are going to increase this limit for individual websites. I send them an email asking what it currently is and got that answer. Otherwise this limit is not mentioned anywhere in their description of their hosting plans.

Earlier I suspected that such limit does exist, as I noticed that my website was getting slow when it got heavy traffic. During bursts the traffic can increase several hundred times. So, though, my site only gets about 30Gb of monthly transfer, which is 70 times less than 2,000 Gb / month obtained from 6Mbps, during spikes of activity the 6Mbps limit slows me down.

I see. Thank you for sharing the details. It's definitely interesting to hear about such limitations being used in shared hosting.

Has nothing to do with how much traffic you'll get per month but with how fast you can upload and download files.

Of course, it does. Just like the maximum distance one can travel in a car in a month is limited by the maximum speed of the car.

I wouldn't choose host gator there security is unreliable thats where most domains are stolen at
All people do is change there main domain to someone else's domain that has the same host gator name servers so its really easy bottom line don't use it

Bluehost is $7.95 a month for 1 year or $6.95 a month for 2 years and has 1,500GB space and $15,000GB bandwidth.
