I am looking for a place to host a forum for just the people that are involved with a project team. I have the forum hosted on another site, however their are ads everywhere, including advertisings posts in our threads...They will not let me backup my database or anything to transfer it, so i will be doing it by my hand - I would like my style on their, so I need ftp access. There is going to be around 20 or less people on this site, but it is very vital to our team so we can have an active community. Actualyl there should be around 30-50 people at first, but we will be cutting the team down to around 20. That is pretty much all I need. I'm not sure if cpanel is an option but it would be helpful. If not, it doesnt matter. I am not sure if you only host forums, because i wo uld also like to maybe put a chat on it for certain times... The last things are not necessary, and anything you can do is appreciated.

I'd look at good reliable hosts, like start lgc. I suggest going thru the link in my sig and looking at some of those.

Most hosts will be able to host a forum for you and most of them will have a 1 click install for free forums to. Look around and send some emails to them and ask what they offer.

We can do it on http://www.amkh.com for $9.00 /mo. You'll have access to http://www.installatron.com too, to set them up for you on the fly.

We do forum hosting for free on http://www.amkbb.com as well, without ads. You can custom configure the templates, etc. We make backups of everyone's files there, but we don't have access for individual users to download copies of their DB's as of yet.

First of all, what forum software are you running? Are there any special components that need to be on the server to support it?

I've been on there for about 3 weeks now, without even the slightest problem, there is a catch, but its a good one, they put an ad on every one of your pages, but it is at the very bottom of the page, so noone ever sees it anyway.
