Web Hosting Offers and Requests

I'm thinking on offering free web hosting using a sub directory for each account, giving 500mb free webspace and 2gb bandwidth plus all the other features.

But before setting it up do you think it would work, do people still use free web hosting ?

The web hosting would be using my website url but as a sub domain, there would be some advertising on the website such as a text link back to my website and maybe a banner.

Do you think this is a good idea, do people still use free web hosting ?

People would use free hosting but at the end of the day people dont want to be tied to the rules of other people, it is for this reason people like forumup etc are starting to note a dramatical decrease in phpbb hosting etc .

You can say that now but can you carry it out ? There are many site where other people complain about other sites , they allow very harsh language, slating of other people and companies etc etc , they are all opinions but the people are entitled to them, most people wont host these sorts of sites, would you

Yea, i just want to host webmaster / webmaster resources type of sites any others will not be allowed.

Hello, I have tested this with different email addresses and all are receiving the emails activation message, are you sure you typed in your email address right also check your spam mail box.

Just a note from other forums that I belong to. Alot of the people that use free hosting only use it for a short period of time. They will sign up and do some testing on their scripts or website and then change to a paid host. Others will use it to send out spam and then get their account removed and move on to the next free host.

I know this because I did a lot of research on this because I was going to offer free hosting as well. I liked the idea because with free hosting, the users dont expect as much support or you can set up a forum for support.

I think if you want to do it just be prepared for users changing all the time and for spammers.

Just my 2 cents.

I was hoping to use the free web hosting as i way to get people to sign up for paid hosting a way to promote my web hosting services.
